Silk Handley shares about her time in Bangladesh

I’ve been home since Sunday, but find myself thinking often about my short time in Dhaka. It was such a blessing getting to know the women in the cohort. Two-and-a-half days wasn’t near enough time to connect with each person deeply, but I was able to greet each one and pass along your love and prayers.
Life Mapping
The focus of this session was on life mapping and spiritual gifts. It was so enlightening learning about life mapping and its significance in helping us understand ourselves better. Each of us actually had to reflect on a five-year time span, writing both positive and negative events during that time and then sharing about it within our small groups. So insightful!
Spiritual Gifts
The session on spiritual gifts was also very instructive, culminating in a time of interceding for one another. Such a rich time!
A picture is worth a thousand words, so I’ll include a few photos and a video to give you a fuller taste of my experience.
This is the room we met in for all of our sessions.

Here’s a quick video of one of our worship times.
I wish I could remember the name of this tasty treat for one of our snacks. The women said it was very special that the cooks prepared it for us.

Our last evening we had game night. This group of women like to have fun!

The other half of the group

After creating collages, the women shared about the significance of their pictures within their small groups. I feel fortunate that I was able to walk around and hear many of the women share about their collage. It’s clear that they’re devoted to serving the Lord, using their training and giftedness for his glory.

They presented Jackie, Holly, Leena and me with gifts at the end of our time together.

We gathered to take a group photo our final morning.

Upcoming Sessions
It’s hard to believe there are only two more sessions left: leadership and mission.
Let’s continue to keep these women in prayer so they are able to attend both sessions as well as complete the assignments so they gain the full benefit of this program.
Grateful to serve the Lord with you,
Silk Handley
