Dear Friends,
I have great news! The matching grant from the The Maclellan Foundation has been extended to December 31, 2013. This grant is targeted for church multiplication and leadership development in Japan. Every dollar designated toward this effort will be matched dollar for dollar up to $200,000 if it is received before December 31, 2013.
Pastor Nobuyoshi Nagai from outside Sendai, the main city in Northern Japan where the disaster struck, captured the essence of the curent situation in Japan so well. When I asked him what they needed, he said,
"Joe, send us hundreds of missionaries! The need is so great and the church is so small, we need as many missionaries as possible. For some reason, the people are responding to foreigners in a special way these days, so please, send us as many as you can!"
The Maclellan Foundation in visiting Pastor Nagai and many other pastors caught this same spirit. Seeing this special moment for the hope of Christ, they challenged A3 with a $200,000 matching grant and to date we have already received $125,000.
When fully matched, The Maclellan Foundation, Inc. grant will become $400,000, which will give A3 the resources to start eight new church multiplication networks by 2014. A3 has already seen 25 church multiplication networks established in Japan. These funds will help bring the networks to one-third of the 2020 target of 100.
I have until December 31, 2013 to meet this match to help bring the hope of Christ to the country of Japan. As the year draws to a close, I would like to ask you to prayerfully consider a special year-end gift of $50, $75 or $100 to be doubled by the match. Or perhaps God has blessed you in such a way that you could give $250, $500 or even $1,000 to be doubled.
