Seasons of life & ministry for the Handleys in 2019

Just as there are four seasons of the year, Joe and I have experienced four seasons in life and ministry this year.

Strategic Planning

This has been a significant year for A3 in strategic planning. Various groups in the A3 community have met throughout the year, brainstorming, praying and waiting on the Lord as we seek to refine the A3 vision and mission for 2025.

Celebrations

This year has also been a season of celebrations. What a privilege and joy that we’ve been able to attend three A3 graduations in the Philippines (top left), Bangladesh (top right, bottom right), and Sri Lanka! We also had the pleasure of attending the 20th anniversary of A3 in Mongolia (bottom left).

Celebrating the marriage of our younger daughter Rachel to Quan Chu was also a rich blessing.

Traveling

It has been a full season of traveling for us with trips within Japan, throughout Asia, and even Europe. We attended a variety of ministry events in Japan. We also traveled to various countries in Asia, hearing inspiring stories from ministry partners and seeing firsthand what God is doing. Our travels have taken us to Europe as well as we are exploring new relationships and ministry opportunities.

Intense Study & Writing

Finally, the last quarter of this year has been a season of intense study and writing for Joe as he is in the final stretch of completing his dissertation. We’re grateful that the A3 board has granted Joe a partial sabbatical so he has had time to write, with occasional breaks to renew his mind and energy. Joe will share more about this last quarter - challenges, learnings and blessings - in the new year.

We’re grateful during every season we’re in because of God’s sustaining grace and the support of all of you: such an affirming community of family and friends. Our prayer is that you will experience God’s faithfulness whether you’re in a season of abundance and blessing, or a season of challenge and waiting on the Lord.

Grateful to be partnering together,

Silk for all the Handleys
