What an exciting year 2017 has proven to be.
A3 celebrated 50 years of ministry, our year of Jubilee. 2017 has been a phenomenal launching pad for the coming year.
Thank you for praying for us and for giving. As you think about it and pray about it, please consider giving to our new matching challenge. You know the work that God has in store for us in the coming years in Japan alone is amazing. The leaders there have vision to reach 2% of the population... and not long after that, 10% of the population... and not long after that, to plant 50,000 churches.
Changing the few who change the many
Beyond all that, we have the privilege of changing the few who change the many. We're looking at several new countries to develop leaders who will impact Asia for Christ. Some of those countries include places like Thailand and Singapore and Hong Kong, even Taiwan and a few countries I'm not able to mention publicly.
2018 INITIATIVES... if the matching grant is fully met
You might be asking what would A3 do if all this $2,250,000 in match money comes in. Here is what we are dreaming of:
- We would love to open 2-3 new countries from this list in 2018:
- Indonesia
- _________ (unnamed for security reasons)
- Thailand
- _________ (unnamed for security reasons)
- South Korea (i.e., the A3 pastor program, as A3.business is already operating there)
- We plan to open 1-2 new countries for our A3.business cohorts
- Hong Kong
- Singapore
- Taiwan
- We are laying a foundation for the 2019 Rugby World Cup, 2020 Paralympics and 2020 Summer Olympic Games in Japan. Japanese Pastors now have amazing vision:
- Double the percentage of Christians by 2023
- 10% of the population by 2024
- Plant 50,000 churches by 2035 (there are only 8,000 traditional churches and nearly 16,000 house churches presently in the country)
- We hope to build a platform to raise the voices of Asian leaders speaking into the life of the Global Church. The world, especially the West, needs to hear their wisdom! Eastern Voices is a part of this platform.
- We are launching a new Pan Asia Leader Development Program to empower younger leaders and prepare the Church to engage in the era of globalization.
- We hope to model a new era of missional partnership: where we see far more synergy between the West and the East, the developed and developing world, and stronger forms of partnership that go beyond the dependency and paternal models that continue to pervade missions today.
- Finally, in 2018 we are planning a trip to East and Central Africa to explore taking A3 global.
We are prayerfully dreaming to see how we can extend the Kingdom of God in 2018 and beyond.
