Recently, I had the privilege of facilitating a session focused on generosity—but what unfolded was something much deeper. It became a sincere conversation about ownership, stewardship, and the quiet, often costly act of listening and obeying Jesus, even when it doesn’t make sense.
I was reminded that generosity isn’t just about giving money. It’s about releasing control. It’s about trusting God with our time, relationships, business, and even the dreams we hold closest. Generosity is the fruit of surrender—and an act of deep faith.
This is the heart behind A3’s new course, The Journey & Joy of Generosity (JJOG), adapted through material and training provided by Generous Giving and Generosity Path. This version was prayerfully tailored for A3’s global community of leaders in ministry and business.
The result? Not just a teaching series, but a transformative movement.
What Leaders Are Learning
Throughout the course, Christian leaders from across India shared honest reflections that went far beyond finances. Their stories pointed to a reorientation of the heart—a new way of seeing life, resources, and calling through the lens of God's Kingdom.
Joseph Singh spoke of generosity as a continuous journey of discipleship—one where giving is not transactional, but an expression of faith and love.
Joseph Pawar called the sessions “eye-openers,” challenging him to stop limiting generosity to tithes or offerings and begin to see every area of life as an opportunity to give.
Sam Thomas was deeply moved by the story of the “Handful of Rice,” a reminder that even the smallest acts, when given with a willing heart, can be multiplied by God.
Whole-Life Generosity: Not Just Financial
Geo Verghese was particularly struck by the acronym LIFE: Labor, Influence, Finances, and Expertise. He saw generosity as something that flows through all of life—not just finances.
The story of the Barnhart family, who chose to live simply despite great financial wealth, deeply inspired him. It wasn’t about guilt; it was about freedom. A life of joyful simplicity and meaningful impact.
John Monterio echoed the conviction that generosity must reflect the heart of God in every area. As stewards of God’s blessings, we’re invited to reflect His nature through how we live, not just what we give.
Generosity in the Marketplace
Sreenath and Rajiv Hubert, both business leaders, wrestled with what generosity looks like in the professional world.
Rajiv asked a pressing question:
Can Christian entrepreneurs flourish and still live generously?
His answer—yes, but only if we move beyond a survival mindset and embrace business as a calling.
He emphasized the importance of building ventures not just for income, but for influence and mission—to create space for God's Kingdom to take root through business itself.
Giving from a Place of Trust
Wellington distilled it down to a simple truth: Generosity begins with trusting God. If we believe He provides, we can live open-handed, even when resources feel tight.
For Christopher and Laji Paul, the greatest shift was internal. They realized that the joy of generosity doesn't come from external impact alone—it comes from allowing God to shape their hearts. Their fulfillment wasn’t in accumulating more, but in giving more of themselves to God's purposes.
A Gentle Invitation
This isn’t another program to complete. It’s not a rulebook. It’s an invitation to return to the way of Jesus—the One who gave everything, not out of obligation, but out of love.
If you’re weary, skeptical, or unsure how generosity fits into your life right now, know that you're not alone. You don’t need to have all the answers. But maybe these stories are God’s gentle whisper: You can trust Me. You can give freely. I will provide.
Whether you’re a pastor, entrepreneur, parent, or student—you have something to give. Your time, your gifts, your wisdom, your presence. God can use it all.
