Background Information:
I was born and raised in a small town in the middle part of the Philippines. In 2013, I accepted Jesus as my Lord and Savior after my relatives came to our place to bring Jesus and relief goods following the super typhoon Haiyan disaster. Since then, I have been in a relationship with Jesus—the best relationship I have ever had! I also enjoyed a part of my life in the beautiful United Arab Emirates as a working professional for over 5 years, and it paved the way for me to be in Japan.
Ministry Assignment:
Missional Partner Associate serving with a local church in Japan since 2024.
Advice to Potential Missionaries
My suggestion is to test the waters and allow God to strengthen that calling. As part of my journey, God drew me closer to Him until the only reason why I am doing what I’m doing is Jesus. The journey towards cross-cultural mission is not easy, and it will test how strong your foundation in God is. So be faithful in small things, and allow them to prepare you for greater ones. Also, surround yourself with multicultural people, as it will help you adapt to cultural differences!
When you are in Japan, be sure to...
at least know this phrase if you need someone to speak in English, 'Eigo wo hanashimasu ka?' You might have to ask several people, and pray that someone will speak to you in English. This works amazingly well in train stations and malls.
Are there any areas of interest about which you would like to network with others?
I'm really interested in learning more and serving marginalized children in Japan who stay in orphanages and institutional centers. My desire is to reach out to this specific group and hopefully start a ministry focused on them.
What are some important lessons you've learned as you've served in ministry?
Your faithfulness and consistency are seen by both God and people. As you continue doing it, you are paving the way for others to have confidence in partnering with what God is doing in your life.
What are some hopes for the future?
My hope is to see the people I'm serving live the fullness of life that God has for them! And, hopefully, they will also desire to share that life with the people they will be reaching.
