It's been a terrific week here in Seoul. I love coming here because of the vibrancy of the city and one of the cleanest and best airports in the world. I was here for the Asian Leadership Forum and on the way in learned that several old friends were in town for different events as well.
So, we got together for some awesome Korean BBQ. It was fun catching up with friends Erwin McManus, pastor at Mosaic Church, and A3 reference council member Dave Gibbons, pastor at Newsong Church. We hadn't seen each other in quite some time so hanging out was loads of fun. These guys are doing catalytic work, and I'm proud of what they are doing for the good of Christ.
My primary purpose was to hang out with leaders who rarely get to participate in the global body of Christ. Wow! It was great seeing my friends and to see the influence they are having in their country. Nearly every report shared, I could see subtle influences of the powerful impact A3 has had on their nation.
They shared their vision to send 20,000 missionaries from their country by 2030 and to simply worship alongside of them was powerful. Hearing the reports on the future of our faith in Asia was inspiring!
As we closed, we focused on the power of our fellowship in Christ. We celebrated communion and one of my friends shared as he led the worship, "We have come together and we are healed!" Hearing those words made me tear up because so many of them are isolated from the global church and are under significant pressure.
As we partook of the body of Christ together, they were sobbing all around me. For many, this was the first time they took communion with believers from around the globe. It brought me to tears.
What a joy to stand beside these brothers and sisters and empower them in the vision God has given them!
